JVC RC-M70

JVC followed up the success of the RC-550 with another great radio destined to become the classic model for most design, the RC-M70. This radio was a stereo player, with 4 speakers, two 6” woofers and two 2” horn tweeters. All the slide controls and buttons were on top, including a click down music search function and a loudness button. A great sounding(40 watts of power), cool looking unit it had tremendous build construction( a JVC trait), and great bass response at a time when bass heavy music, funk and R & B were merging their flavors to begin the Rap/ Hip Hop movement. This radio also had a special seat belt styled click in shoulder strap and even had a special carry bag as well.

I still have my RC-M70. I remember spending $450 to buy it originally (saved my paper route money for years). No flashy display as in units that followed this model, but clean, crisp, sound. I still enjoy listening to it to this very day.

I remember this monster. You had to steal... I mean buy 10 D batteries if you wanted to take it to the park to show off. Not like the Batteries for mp3 if you took this thing to the park you better have freash batteries and there were good only for that day

I bought a JVC RC-M70 on e-bay for 40 bucks last year. It was a steal; especially since all the functions work; including the cassette player and recorder. I used to have a JVC B-90 and a JVC DP-100, but they didn't sound as great as the M-70. I sold them on e-bay. I take my M-70 to the beach and in no time there are 10 blankets posted near mine listening to my music and admiring the M-70...

I bought a JVC M-70 from a seller on e-bay for 40.00. This was a steal because the cassette deck plays and records great. All the functions also work and are in good condition. The only problem is that one of the antennae is missing. I had a JVC B-90 and a JVC DP-100, but they did not sound as good as the M-70. I eventually sold them both on e-bay. I take the M-70 to the Beach and in no time, there are at least 10 blankets with people listening to my music and admiring the M-70. I run in the water and run out in fear that someone would try to steal my M-70. LOL!
